This guide explains how to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) using the Google Authenticator app to improve the security of your account.
Prerequisite: Install the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone before you begin.
Activate 2FA on Desktop
- Log in to your account.
- Go to My Profile > Account and Security.
- In the Two-Factor Authentication Setup section, click Setup.
- Open the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the screen.
- A 6-digit verification code will appear in the Google Authenticator app. The code refreshes every 30 seconds.
- Enter the 6-digit code into the Enter the six-digit code from the application field.
- Click Enable.
Activate 2FA on Mobile
- Log in to your PEER account.
- Go to My Profile > Account and Security.
- In the Two-Factor Authentication Setup section, tap Setup.
- Copy the setup key displayed below the QR code.
- Open the Google Authenticator app.
- Tap the Add (+) button.
- Select Enter a setup key.
- Enter an account name
- Paste the copied setup key into the Your key field.
- Tap Add.
- Return to PEER and enter the 6-digit verification code generated by Google Authenticator.
- Tap Enable.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is successfully enabled. You will be prompted to enter a verification code from Google Authenticator each time you sign in to your PEER account.
